The Miracles of Jesus are chosen for our Parish study for this year’s Word of God. The Miracles are grouped into the following Books of the Bible: Matthew Mark Luke, and John.
In 2019 on the Feast of Saint Jerome, who gave the Church an important translation of the Bible used for centuries, Pope Francis declared the Third Sunday of Ordinary Time to be “Sunday of the Word of God.” All of the faithful are invited to reflect on the importance of God’s Word in our lives. The Word of God, Sacred Scripture, is to celebrated and to be studied. The first Sunday Word of God was celebrated in 2020.
Pope Francis in his Motu Proprio Aperuit Illlis, for instituting the Sunday of the Word of God, wrote: “Devoting a specific Sunday of the liturgical year to the Word of God can enable the Church to experience anew how the risen Lord opens up for us the treasury of his word and enables us to proclaim its unfathomable riches before the world.”
