St. Martin de Porres

The St. Martin de Porres Ministry began in 1995 at St. Joseph Parish. For many years we operated from our homes, basements,  garages and barns. In 2009 we received a generous grant from the Catholic Foundation to construct our own facility, which is located across the parking lot from the PAC.

The goals of St. Martin are very simple, to provide help to those in need in our community, and throughout Madison and Union counties. Needs come from many sources and in many forms; from household goods, to furniture, small and large appliances and especially twin beds for children. Every child deserves a clean, warm bed.  Most items in the Mission Center are donated. Beds are one of the items we purchase through the important 5th Sunday collections, offered by St. Joseph's generous parishioners, as well as bequest and special annual gifts. We are also able to provide gift cards and some financial aid, from the Christmas Giving Tree annual project.

Items We Can Accept as Donation

• Sofas, chairs, ottomans, end tables, small desks, bookcases, dressers, kitchen tables/chairs
• Flat screen TV’s (Cable Ready)
• Twin & Full size beds (bed frame, head & foot boards)
• Twin & Full size sheets & blankets
• Towels - bath and kitchen
• Lamps - table & floor
• Large Appliances - washer/dryers, refrigerators, freezers, stoves
• Small Appliances - microwaves, toasters, toaster ovens, coffee makers, crockpots, blenders, mixers, food processors, irons, fans, small heaters
• Kitchen Items - dish sets, pots/pans (no scratches on cooking surface), bakeware, utensils, silverware, canisters
• Decorative - working clocks, wall decor/pictures, shelves, mirrors, baskets
• Holiday items - we are limited on what we take due to space
• Nursery - dressers, changing tables, rockers
• Tools, outdoor furniture
• Wheelchairs, walkers, canes, other handicapped items

Items We CANNOT Accept as Donation

• Queen or King Beds, pillows, mattress covers, all used mattresses
• Rugs
• Cribs, Car Seats
• Clothes, shoes
• Computers, Cell Phones, Books, Knick Knacks
• Exercise Equipment
• Toys, Stuffed Animals

ALL donations are handled by appointment ONLY.

Limited pick-up available. Tax deductible receipts provided as requested.
