The St. Martin de Porres Ministry began in 1995 at St. Joseph Parish. For many years we operated from our homes, basements, garages and barns. In 2009 we received a generous grant from the Catholic Foundation to construct our own facility, which is located across the parking lot from the PAC.
The goals of St. Martin are very simple, to provide help to those in need in our community, and throughout Madison and Union counties. Needs come from many sources and in many forms; from household goods, to furniture, small and large appliances and especially twin beds for children. Every child deserves a clean, warm bed. Most items in the Mission Center are donated. Beds are one of the items we purchase through the important 5th Sunday collections, offered by St. Joseph's generous parishioners, as well as bequest and special annual gifts. We are also able to provide gift cards and some financial aid, from the Christmas Giving Tree annual project.
Prior to the COVID Pandemic, meetings were held quarterly. We hope to resume again, later in 2022, planning to meet every 4 or 6 months.

• Sofas, chairs, tables, desks, bookcases, dressers, rockers, ottomans
• Small working TV’s (cable ready) and radios
• Twin & Full beds and bed frames, head and foot boards
• Household bed linens, twin/full sheets, blankets, bath and kitchen towels
• Twin & Full Mattresses and box springs (Clean, Unstained)
• Lamps: Table and floor lamps
• Large Appliances: WORKING washers/dryers, refrigerators, stovess
• Small Appliances: Microwaves, toasters, toaster ovens, coffeepots, crockpots, blenders, mixers, food processors, irons, fans, small heaters
• Dishes, serving pieces, pots and pans, baking ware, utensils, silverware
• Decorative FUNCTIONAL items: clocks, pictures, mirrors, pillows, baskets and limited holiday decorations
• Tools, small lawn and garden furnishings, outdoor furniture
• Wheelchairs, walkers, canes, other handicapped items
• Cars or pick-up trucks that run
Items We CANNOT Accept as Donation
Queen for King bed units, hide-a-beds, clothes, shoes, knick knacks, books, console for large TVs, computers & other electronic equipment, large exercise equipment, older cribs, car seats of any kind, cell phones, any items in dirty, broken condition, parts missing or that do not work.
ALL donations are handled by appointment ONLY.
Limited pick-up available. Tax deductible receipts provided as requested.
